Vinometer (Wine Alcohol Meter)
Glass Vinometer
Vinometer Alcohol Meter allows you to determine the alcohol content in wine (still) and mash free of CO2.
The measuring range lies between 0 and 25 % ABV, although it is more reliable at an ABV of 8-13%.
If you want to determine an amount above 25% simply dilute the liquid with water 1:1 and multiply the result by 2.
We recommend using an Alcohol Meter if you plan on measuring the content of high-proof spirits for better accuracy.
A residual way of getting an approximation of alcohol content if you haven't taken an original hydrometer gravity reading.
Length approx. 13cm
How to use Vinometer
- Fill wine into the funnel until it drips out the bottom of the stem.
- Ensure that there are no gas bubbles in the tub.
- Turn the meter upside down, take a reading when the movement has stopped.
Tips for using a Vinometer
If you have a very strong wine, dilute it with an equal amount of water, then take a reading.
If the reading ends up inside the interval 8-13% you know you can trust it and in reality it is twice as high.
The best way is to dilute your wine and take readings until you get approx. 10%, then determine the strength from your dilution factor.
If you have an unstable wine take a small sample and shake out all CO2, pour it on a saucer and leave it in the fridge overnight.
This will usually stabilize it and get rid of most CO2.
